Mr. Amit Talwar, Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Road Safety Committee, SAS Nagar today released research study report on Airport Road title “Identification and road safety audit of accident blackspots on 21 km long Airport Road (Mohali) (PR-7) from Chainage km 0+000 to km 21+203.
Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the district administration said that this report has been prepared by Punjab Road Safety and Traffic Research Centre, SAS Nagar under the team led by Dr Navdeep Asija, Traffic Advisor to Government of Punjab along with the student trainee Mr Sunil Sharma, Mr Naresh Sharma, Mr Keshav Raj Joshi of Gulzar Group of Institute Ludhiana and Mr Parmider Singh of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana as a part of their B.Tech Research Project.
The Study is assisted by SAFE Society Punjab and Supervised by Road Safety Engineers Mr Simranjeet Singh and Mr Charanjit of SAFE Society Punjab.
While releasing the report Mr. Talwar said “Such detailed scientific study will not only help us to improve the present road safety and traffic management scenario but will also help to shape up our future decision making related to it.” It is pertinent to mention that Airport Road is the most critical urban road stretch is SAS Nagar and in the year 2020, around 19 people lost their lives on the 21 km long stretch of this road.
D.C. Mohali advised the study in the last Road Safety Meeting held in the district.
