Haryana Badminton Association will give recognition to private badminton academies of the state on the basis of their performance
Senior badminton tournament will be organized in Panchkula- Gupta
Panchkula, June 5 –
Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh Gian Chand Gupta said that Junior National Badminton Academy would be set up in Panchkula. He has spoken to the Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, Sh Anurag Thakur in this regard.
Sh Gupta who is also the Chief Pattern of Haryana Badminton Association informed this while presiding over the annual general and executive committee meeting of the Association here today. President, Haryana Badminton Association and Additional Chief Secretary, Devender Singh was also present on the occasion.
Sh Gupta said that the Junior National Badminton Academy to be set up in Panchkula would be the first academy not only of the state but of North India. The Academy would immensely benefit the badminton players of Haryana as well as players of entire North India, he added. The office bearers of 30 badminton associations from all the districts the state participated in the meeting.
Sh Gupta said that Indian Badminton Team has won Thomas Cup in Thailand after 73 years. He said that the craze of badminton has significantly increased and the youth are showing keen interest in playing badminton. He said that the sports policy of Haryana is famous not only in the country but in the whole world. Under the policy, the sports person of Haryana winning gold medal in Olympics is awarded a cash prize of Rs 6 crore while the winners of silver medal and bronze medal are awarded cash prize of Rs 4 crore and Rs 2.5 crore respectively.
Several important decisions were taken for promoting the game of badminton in Haryana in today’s meeting. It was decided that the Haryana Badminton Association will give recognition to the private badminton academies of the state on the basis of their performance. Apart from this, the players of Haryana who have won medals at national and international level in badminton will be certified by HBA, who can later train the players at national and international level.
It was also decided that badminton competitions for boys and girls of under 13 and 15 will be held in Faridabad and those of under 17 and 19 will be held in Gurugram. Senior men’s and women’s competition will be organized in Panchkula. A decision was also taken in the meeting to create State Id of each badminton player having complete information about the player.
Among those present in the meeting included Treasurer , Haryana Badminton Association Vinay Kumar, General Secretary Ajay Kumar Singhania , Joint Secretary Jatindra Mahajan and General Secretary Rajesh Kumar , Vice President PD Verma and other representatives of office bearers.
