Chandigarh, June 28
A delegation of Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Chandigarh, along with former councilor Davinder Singh Babla, led by UVM President Kailash Chand Jain, met Mayor Sarabjit Kaur Dhillon and submitted a memorandum on behalf of UVM.
Present along were Naresh Kumar Jain, President of Palika Bazar Market, Vijay Pal Singh Chaudhary, President of Sadar Bazar Sector 19, Surendra Singh Dua, President of Janta Market Sector 27 and Market Executive Member Taranjit Singh and other shopkeepers of the market.
On this occasion, the delegation told the mayor that notices are being sent to the shopkeepers in lieu of installing display boards, whereas these boards are of different companies and they are being advertised, so the notices were not sent to the companies but were being sent to the shopkeepers. Even fines and advertisement fees should also be collected from the same companies whose advertisement boards are installed, shopkeepers should not be made unnecessarily scapegoats, they said.
On this occasion, UVM President Kailash Chand Jain said that the shopkeepers who have put up their shop boards at the designated place to put up display boards for the shops, even if they belong to a company and if the said shopkeeper sells the goods of the said company, then that shopkeeper should have full right to put up the board. Kailash Jain also demanded that the shopkeeper should be given a warning notice to take down the board without any advertisement fee in order to remove the wrong boards.
Former councilor Devender Singh Babla also demanded that before taking action against the shopkeeper or any person, they must be given an opportunity of being heard. It should not be a one-sided decision.
The Mayor, after listening carefully to the point of the delegation, assured of appropriate action in the matter. After that, the delegation also met Additional Commissioner Rahul Gupta and got his attention drawn on these subjects and demanded relief to the traders, on which Additional Commissioner Rahul Gupta agreed with the demands of the delegation and assured that the wrong notice would be returned.
