Chandigarh Administration notifies Policy- “Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016

The Home Department, Chandigarh Administration had notified a Policy- “Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016” to maintain law and order within the jurisdiction of U.T., Chandigarh.
In this regard, a meeting of the Nodal Committee was held under the Chairmanship of District
Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh to regulate places of amusement like discotheque, pool game/ virtual reality game/ game machine parlours, bowling alleys, including places where music, singing, dancing (excluding
cinema) and facility of eating and consumption of alcohol are provided to the customers or patrons in the prescribed premises/area with the purpose of running a commercial enterprise for pecuniary gains.
The representatives of Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Senior Superintendent of Police, Director Health Services, Estate Officer, Excise and Taxation Commissioner and Labour Commissioner, Chandigarh
attended the meeting.
Further, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Director Health Services, Excise and Taxation Commissioner and Labour Commissioner, Chandigarh have been requested to conduct survey to identify
the places of public amusement running in U.T., Chandigarh and submit list to the office of District
Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh within 15 days.
The Deputy Commissioner Office will then provide an opportunity to such places of public
amusement running in UT Chandigarh to obtain permission certificate as per policy within 30 days. Those places of public amusement which will fail to obtain permission certificate within 30 davs of the notice would not be allowed to operate tillfurther orders. Sh.Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that Chandigarh Administration will
be tough on such operators of places of public amusement who disturb peace of neighbourhood areas by either playing music at high volume or cause frequent disturbance to Law & Order in their surroundings.
