With an unabating zeal and zest to cycle, walk and run, Chandigarh is back with the 45 days Freedom2Cycle, Walk, Run campaign launched by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), GOI for its leaders to walk, cycle and run.
“Aiming towards behavioural change and stepping forth to a healthier lifestyle, the Freedom2Cycle, Walk, Run campaign has been started today and our leaders explored the city through a cyclists’ and pedestrians’ eye, will help in developing strategic and contextual solutions to issues which they will observe during the activity routes in the city.” said by Ms. Anindita Mitra IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited.
Ms. Mitra appealed to the citizens of Chandigarh to be a part of the campaign by walking, cycling, running to achieve their fitness target and log the activity on Strava App.
In previous year edition, Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has put into orbit the two unique national level challenges “Freedom2Walk & Cycle Challenge for City Leaders” & “Inter- City Freedom 2 Walk & Cycle Challenge for Citizens” for first time in 2022 under the umbrella of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM). Efficaciously circulating the message for citizens to adopt healthier life choices, Mr. Rupesh Aggarwal, IAS, Additional Commissioner represented Chandigarh in Super Hero Award Category and was honoured to take up cycling and promoting the initiative to ride to work.

- Executive Committee Meeting of FOSWAC held Chandigarh The Executive Committee Meeting of FOSWAC (Federation of Sectors Welfare Association Chandigarh) was held at “People Convention Centre” sector 36 Chandigarh on Sunday 31 st March 2024 under the chairmanship of Sh. Baljinder Singh Bittu. It was attended overwhelmingly by sixty federating members of RWAs. The General secretary welcomed the participants. The newly elected Presidents Dr Cheema and Amardeep Singh as President of RWAs sectors 34 and sector 39 respectively were congratulated. Addressing the members Baljinder Singh Bittu Chairman FOSWAC raised the issue of Community Centres. He said “community centers are not for community” Residents are not allowed to even enter the community centres specially after their renovation, where crores of public money are spent. The Municipal Corporation has converted these community centres into Marriage Palaces. There are community rooms for Yoga, reading, Gymnasiums, Badminton courts etc. but residents are not allowed to use them. Earlier all such facilities were available to the residents. In the name of Election Code even the paid bookings are cancelled. - फिजियो कनेक्ट 4 में पवन बंसल ने डॉक्टरों को किया सम्मानितफिजियोथेरेपिस्ट्स की नेशनल कांफ्रेंस में पवन बंसल ने क्लिनिकल एक्सीलेंस अवार्ड किये वितरित चंडीगढ़ , शहर के पूर्व सांसद व वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता पवन बंसल ने ला ऑडिटोरियम में आयोजित फिजियो कनेक्ट 4 अवॉर्ड सेरेमनी में विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में शिरकत की व चयनित फिजियोथैरेपिस्ट्स को अवॉर्ड से नवाजा । पवन बंसल ने कहा कि फिजियोथेरेपिस्ट की भूमिका को भारत के स्पोर्ट्स परिदृश्य में विशिष्ट स्थान प्राप्त है। आज के आधुनिक भारत में स्पोर्ट्स इंजरी एक बहुत ही आम समस्या है, लेकिन आम लोग इसके लिए फिज़ियोथैरेपी लेने से परहेज़ करते है, जबकि फिजियोथैरेपिस्ट्स ने नई से नई टेक्नोलॉजी ईजाद कर लाखों लोगों को उनकी परेशानियों से निजात दिलाई है। खिलाड़ियों को अपने खेल में वापस लाने की क्षमता भी फिजियोथैरेपिस्ट्स में जिसके नतीजे वह काबिलेतारीफ हैं । इस समारोह में देशभर से जाने माने फिजियोथैरेपिस्ट एकत्र हुए थे जिनमें से समाज में विशिष्ट योगदान देने वालों को सम्मानित किया गया।
- काग़ज़ी विकास का कब तक ढोल पीटेगी भाजपा, जनता हक़ीक़त से है भली-भांति वाकिफ- पवन बंसलचंडीगढ़ शहर के पूर्व सांसद और वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता पवन कुमार बंसल ने जीएमसीएच 32 में चल रहे प्रधानमंत्री आयुष्मान भारत हेल्थ एंड वेलनेस सेंटर को भाजपा की जालसाज़ी बताया है। पवन बंसल ने कहा कि भाजपा को सिर्फ काग़ज़ी विकास ही करना आता है। ज़मीनी स्तर पर जनता के लिए कोई काम भाजपा ने किया ही नहीं। “चंडीगढ़ को डिस्पेंसरियों से लेकर छोटे-बड़े सभी तरह के अस्पतालों की सुविधाएँ कांग्रेस के वक्त ही मिल गई थी, जिनमें लोगों को घर के पास ही स्वास्थ्य सेवाएँ मिल जाती थी, लेकिन भाजपा ने इन डिस्पेंसरियों का नाम बदल कर आयुष्मान भारत हेल्थ एंड वेलनेस सेंटर कर दिया और सिर्फ बाहर से रंग बदल कर इसे अपनी स्कीम के तौर पर प्रचार कर दिया, जबकि सुविधाएँ ज़रूरत के हिसाब से बढ़ाई ही नहीं गई। काग़ज़ों में ऐसे 15 सेंटर दिखाए गए, जिनमें से एक तो जीएमसीएच 32 के प्रशिक्षण केंद्र में ही चल रहा है। जबकि मेडिकल कॉलेज में सामुदायिक चिकित्सा विभाग के डॉक्टर पहले से ही ओपीडी चला रहे थे। ये है भाजपा का काग़ज़ी विकास, जहाँ जनता के लिए सहूलत है ही नहीं।”
