The three day Surgical Skills Workshop 2022 conducted by the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy, PGIMER, Chandigarh concluded today. The workshop which took place from 15th to 17th September, consisted of 13thHands on Cadaveric Head and Neck Dissection course, 13th Hands on Cadaveric Basic and Advanced FESS course and the 18thTemporal Bone Dissection Workshop.
The program was conceptualized and has been running for more than a decade with the aim of making the facilities and expertise of the department accessible to the young surgeons from around the country.
Around 30 registered delegates attended lectures on the surgical anatomy of the head and neck region by the faculty of the Department of Anatomy. They also had the opportunity to witness the live demonstration of various surgeries of ear, sinuses and head and neck performed on cadavers by the surgeons from the Department of ENT, Plastic Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. The delegates also practiced the procedures afterwards on the cadavers provided to them.
The best dissectors in various categories were given prizes too. Events like this are necessary for the young surgeons to learn new techniques and hone their surgical skills, thus delivering better results in patient care.
