In compliance with the directions of NALSA to conduct campaign (empowerment of citizens through legal awareness and outreach) to be held from 31st October to 13th November, 2022 , the District Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh, under the guidance of Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Hon’ble Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court -cum Chairperson State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, U.T. organised Mega Legal Empowerment Camp at Community Centre, Sundarnagar, Mauli Jagran-II, Chandigrah on 06.11.2022.
The camp was preceded by a week long Pre Camp survey in which people of the area were made aware of the fact that such a camp is being organised. During the camp teams from Department of Social Welfare, Department of Labour, Education Department, Department of Food Supply, Teams from Chandigarh Police, Women and Child Help Line 181, Child Line 1098, Senior Citizen Helpline and Don Bosco Navjeevan Society participated in the camp. The camp was also attended by Hon’ble Justice Alka Sarin, also from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
This was the first such camp organised in Sunder Nagar, at the Community centre, which is surrounded by the EWS colony of Mauli Jagran. Speaking at the occasion Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri said “if all departments of Chandigarh Administration continue to work in an integrated manner then Chandigarh can be made a world class city. She further said that she was working very closely with Social Welfare Department and Education Department in order to improve services for children in Chandigarh.”
