CCPCR starts ‘Mass Self Defence Training Program’
Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has started ‘Mass Self Defence Training Program’ under its ‘Girls India Project’ for the girl students in collaboration with ‘Swayam’ team of Chandigarh Police Department from 03.10.23 to 07.10.23 at Shivalik Public School, Sector-41, Chandigarh. The valediction ceremony of the same will be on 11.10.23 to mark the ‘International Day of Girl Child’ through Mass demonstration by the participating girls.
While speaking on the inaugural ceremony, Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson, CCPCR highlighted that the instances of harassment against girls and women are prevalent in our society, many of which go unreported and eventually leading to heinous crimes against girl and women. There is a pressing need to tackle such complicated situations for girls to be able to save themselves from any deleterious outcome. Only by making them learn self defence, we can ensure a society brimming with powerful and strong women who can protect themselves. She further interacted with the girls and motivated them to be strong not only physically but mentally too. Additionally, she appreciated Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Training Instructor and his whole team of ‘Swayam’ for their commendable efforts.
On behalf of the Shivalik Public School, Mrs. Gurkiran Jeet Nalwa, Principal extended vote of thanks to the Chairperson, CCPCR for organizing this Mass Self Defence Training Program at their school. She told the participating students to get inspired from Ms. Shipra Bansal and attain their goals.
Mr. Kartar Singh, Legal Consultant, CCPCR, Mrs. Ankita, POCSO Consultant, CCPCR, Mrs. Sonia Gulia, Vice Principal, Shivalik Public School, Mrs. Vidhi, Coordinator, Girls India Project- Shivalik Public School, Ms. Yogita Sahni, Counsellor-Shivalik Public School, Mr. Shekhar, Clerk, CCPCR and the teachers from participating schools were also present during the training program.
