-Congress got Chandigarh seat after alliance with Aam Aadmi Party.
After the Supreme Court’s order in the Chandigarh Mayor election, INDIA Alliance’s candidate Kuldeep Kumar Tita has been announced as the city Mayor. The speculations of this alliance being limited to this have also ended as both the parties Congress & AAP decided to field a joint candidate from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat and it was also decided that the candidate will be from the Congress party.
One reason for this is believed to be that Congress has an experienced leader like Pawan Kumar Bansal. Bansal has been an MP from Chandigarh several times and a minister at the Centre. Although Congress has not yet announced the name of its candidate but there is no other leader of his stature in any party. Pawan Bansal is considered to be the strongest contender for the ticket.
Expressing happiness over the decision of INDIA Alliance, senior Congress leader Pawan Kumar Bansal said that this is an important decision for the people of Chandigarh as the city lagged behind by many years in terms of development. Now, before voting, the people of Chandigarh have to think whether they want to take their City Beautiful forward, or backward like the development which has been stalled for the last 10 years.
It is worth noting that the people of Chandigarh have witnessed the murder of democracy and abuse of power by the BJP in the last few days, after which the real face of the BJP is also in front of everyone, it is well known that to what level the BJP can stoop to win. In such a situation, the public would once again want to elect a candidate who not only has an impeccable personality but also knows how to give importance to democratic values, a candidate who has played an important role in making this city prosperous in the past and can work in future also to bring back its lost respect.
