VIth graders enjoy a night of mesmerising rendezvous with the Moon
Chandigarh, 16th November 2022:
In its first of a kind school event, the curious astrophiles of Grade 6 of Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh experienced the wonders of the galaxy and the magical moon in a Lunar observation activity organised by Futuristic Learning, Chandigarh Astronomy Club.
The intention behind the endeavour was to open the window of wondrous learning and experience, and provide a stage to the budding intelligentsia to quench their thirst of knowing about the natural phenomena and human activities beyond our planet’s atmosphere in an entertaining manner.
The observation was preceded by an engaging and enlightening presentation wherein the host from Futuristic Learning shared information about the movement of the moon, interesting folklores related to it, effects of the Moon on the Earth, its importance and some knowledge about its phases, creation and craters. The presentation also threw light on the various missions sent on the moon.
The aspiring space scientists were in for an absolute treat with the most awaited hands-on activity of witnessing the beauty of the Moon, spotting its major craters and different Marias through the lens of a professional telescope. The telescopic viewing was indeed a whole new world of experience for students. Visiting the school at night, to witness the beauty of the Moon minutely under the star-studded sky gave the children a lifetime of memories and knowledge.
