As per directions of Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar and under the able guidance of Sh. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, an awareness programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar at Government Senior Secondary School, Dera Bassi. Sh. Baljinder Singh Maan, Secretary, DLSA, SAS Nagar made aware the students regarding ill effects of tobacco on human health. The students were educated about the legislation made for prevention of use and sale of tobacco to the children and about No Smoking Zones. Besides the awareness programme, a campaign had been launched by the District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar against use of Tobacco w.e.f. 24.05.2022 to 30.05.2022 in the schools through its Legal Literacy Clubs in which student members of respective school clubs participated. In the campaign, competitions like declamation, painting, poster making and essay writing were organized by the Legal Literacy Clubs to prepare the minds of the students to keep themselves away from the menace of Tobacco. Ms. Alka Lamba, Principal and other staff members were also present in the awareness programme.
