FREE DENTAL CANCER SCREENING CAMP ORGANISED

Chandigarh, October 14, 2023: Prayog Foundation and Society for Divine Reiki Meditation (NGO) organized a free dental cancer screening camp at the community center of Dhanas. This camp was supported by the Fire & Security Association of India Chandigarh Chapter.

Dr. S.S. Ahluwalia, Chairman of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board while addressing the residents of the area on the closing occasion of the camp expressed that social organizations should expand the scope of their services so that more and more people can benefit from it. Congratulating the organizers, he said that awareness about dental diseases is the main basis of prevention from dental cancer.

Mehak Singh, Secretary, Society for Divine Reiki Meditation (NGO) stated that oral cancer is increasing in India and worldwide.  Due to delay in diagnosis maximum patients are detected when  the disease is in an advanced stage. Today’s camp is aimed to aid early detection. President of Prayog Foundation, Sanjeev Sharma announced the appointment of social worker Nitesh Mahajan as the President of Chandigarh Unit. Mahajan pledged to serve the society with full zeal and endeavour.

Earlier, while inaugurating the camp, former Chandigarh Mayor Davesh Moudgil said that due to our eating habits and changing lifestyle, dental diseases are continuously increasing. This disease can happen to a person of any age group. Moudgil shared that 162 patients were examined for free in the community center of Dhanas Chandigarh. A team of doctors under the leadership of Dr. Saikat Chakraborty, oral cancer screening expert and MDS oral and maxillofacial pathologist, examined 162 men and women during the camp. The participants of the camp were also given free toothbrushes and paste by the organization.

Local Municipal Councilor Ram Chandra Yadav while appreciating  the step taken by the organizations stated that he will help in arranging future camps regularly so that maximum benefit can be extended to the people

During the camp, Nidhi Gupta, representative of Prayog Foundation, Project Incharge Shivangi Bansal, Social Activist Umesh Mahajan, Advocate Ujjwal Mittal, Jatin Nagpal, Daisy Mahajan and members of Shiv Charcha Group were present.
