Collaboration with Infosys Foundation & BVB Bengaluru brings together
artists and performers from around the Tricity
Chandigarh, 9th December 2022:
The week-long Contemporary Art Festival being organised by Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh and Bengaluru Kendras commenced with great panache at the Bhavan Vidyalaya Sector 27 campus today. The grand eventwas inaugurated by Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Shri. Banwarilal Purohit. Padmashri Sh. R.K.Saboo,Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra and ex-president Rotary International, presided over the function along with Sh. K.G. Raghavan, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru and Mr. Sameer Goyal, Head, Infosys Mohali. Various other dignitaries and esteemed members of the Tricity’s eruditecircles were also part of this momentous event.
Mr. Manmohan Kohli, the Chairman of the Cultural Committeewelcomed the august gathering and shared that the event was an attempt to recognise theindigenous artists from the Tricity andgive them a platform to display their talents. He also thanked Infosys Foundation for their immense support and said that the organisers look forward to hold such events at even grander scale in the years to come Sh. K.G. Raghavan, Chairman Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Bengaluru Kendra, in his address highlighted the ideology of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan as conceived by its founder father, Sh. K.M. Munshi. He also expressed his gratitude to the Infosys Foundation for promoting such events. Mr. Sameer Goel, Head, Infosys Mohali emphasised the philosophy of Infosys and the vital role it is playing in enabling the people to stay connected to their roots.
The event started with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest andthe presentation of a soulful rendition-‘Shiv Aradhna’ by spiritual seeker, Ms. Geet Rao. She chanted mantras glorifying Lord Shiva and made everyone feel connected with the Supreme. This was followed by a scintillating dance drama –‘Bharat Amrit Manthan’ by Dr. Sumeera Koser and her team of artists from Pracheen Kala Kendra. The play in different stages, reflected the glorious past, the present and a brilliant future of our motherland simultaneously portraying the various aspects of the diverse Indian society.
Sh. Banwarilal Purohit congratulated the organisers for putting up an excellent show and highly praised the efforts of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan and the Infosys Foundation. He later, felicitated the artists and applauded their presentations.
The event drew to a close with Mrs. Vineeta Arora, Director (Edu) & Sr. Principal, Bhavan Chandigarh presenting the vote of thanks.
The first day also saw the inauguration of theart exhibition which displayed works by various artists from around the Tricity. An Art Workshop has also been set up for three days from the 9th to 11th for the audience. The program will continue for a weekuntil the 15th of December with different performances, and is being telecast live on the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh and Bengaluru YouTube channels. Entry is free for the general public on all days from 4.30 p.m. onwards.
