Choti Diwali, often referred to as Naraka Chaturdashi, is observed on the fourteenth day of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu calendar month of Ashwin. It is said that Lord Krishna and Satyabhama defeated the demon Narakasura on this day. On the second day of festivities and a day before Diwali, it takes place. However, due to the solar eclipse that will be seen on October 25, 2022, Choti Diwali 2022 and Badi Diwali 2022 will be held on the same day, Monday, October 24, 2022.
The day is known by many names in different parts of the country, including Roop Chaudas, Naraka Nivaran Chaturdashi, and Narak Chaudas.

Similar to other Diwali festivities, the Choti Diwali tithi will start on Sunday, October 23, and go till October 24, 2022.

This year’s Chhoti Diwali 2022 celebration’s Shubh Muhurat starts from around 6:03 PM on October 23 to 5:27 PM on October 24.
Choti Diwali 2022: Puja vidhi –
-On Narak Chaturdashi, one should face the northeast when offering devotion.
-Place Panchdev, Shri Ganesh, Durga, Shiva, Shri Vishnu, and Suryadev at a chowki during the puja muhurta.
-The Panchdevas are then given tilaks made of roli or sandalwood and bethed Ganga water.
-Clothing, Naivedya, Janeu, and Kalava should all be offered to the gods.
– After that, recite the mantras and offer prayers to all the gods. Then perform aarti after the puja.
Significance of the Choti Diwali 2022-
According to Hindu mythology, Narakasura attacked the celestial kingdoms. Narakasura was later killed after being defeated by Krishna and Satyabhama in battle.
On this day, Lord Krishna, Maa Kali, Yama, and Hanuman are all honoured and worshipped. It is believed that by worshipping them, once can make amends for sins and elevate oneself. Prasad comprised of sesame seeds, jaggery, rice flakes, ghee, and sugar is presented to the gods and goddesses, along with flowers, sandalwood, coconut, and other samagri.
