Chandigarh, January 20:-
Keeping in view to strengthen the Solid Waste Management in city, Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh and Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, MCC, today flagged off the 4 compactors worth Rs. 1.70 crores.
While briefing about the compactors, the Mayor said that these have been purchased under the dedicated funds for procurement of machinery and equipments and each compactor has 8 cum capacities.
The Mayor said that the compactors would be distributed in the areas corresponding to health supervisors and chief sanitary inspectors of the sanitation wing, MCC. By deploying these compactors, sanitation status of the city will be improved and smooth transportation of waste from the city to the dumping site. These would be used for lifting garbage from the areas including sector 18, 19, 20, 21, 27, 28 and industrial area Phase-I.
