Chandigarh, October 29:-
Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Chandigarh today inaugurated the two day orientation programme for councillors of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh here at Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38 C, Chandigarh.
The inaugural session was attended by Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Other senior officers of MCC, elected councillors as well as newly nominated councillors of MCC. The orientation programme is being conducted by the institute, Rambhu Mhalgi Parbodhini, Mumbai.
Various important topics covered today during the inaugural session included understanding Punjab Municipal Act 1976 as extended to chandigarh by Adv. Jeet Kumar Gupta; Functioning of Municipal Corporation by Sh. Prashant Pisolkar.
Other topics were Roles, Responsibilities and duties of councillors by Prof. V.N. Alok and Personality Development by Sh. Ravinder Sathe, Director General of Rambhu Mahlgi Parbodhini.
The session will resume tomorrow at 10.00 am during which various important topics will be covered including closing ceremony.
This orientation will enable councillors to understand their roles, responsibilities and duties better.
Earlier, the Mayor and Commissioner honoured the key speakers of today’s sessions.
