– AWARD TO BE GIVEN BY PRESIDENT AND UNION MINISTER FOR JAL SHAKTI
– VILLAGE WILL BE HONORED WITH ‘SWACHH SUJAL SHAKTI SAMMAN-2023’ FOR ODF PLUS STATUS

the Peroshah village of Gurdaspur District on March 4 will be honored with the National award ‘Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman-2023’ by the President and the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, said Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa.
This award will be given to village Sarpanch Harjinder Kaur for providing excellent sanitation facilities in the village. In the context of International Women’s Day, this award will be given to those women, who have done extremely good work in the water supply and sanitation sectors. Jimpa has congratulated all the residents of Peroshah village for achieving this benchmark.
Jimpa said that with the support of the Punjab Government, Peroshah village has earned a reputation at the National level by properly managing waste water and solid/liquid waste. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s dream is that every village in Punjab should be a model village and special attention must be paid to cleanliness there and water supply and sanitation department is working diligently to achieve this aim. He said that the Punjab Government is striving to make the state Rangla Punjab and sincere efforts are being made to fulfill this objective.
Pertinently, Peroshah village falls in Sri Hargobindpur block near Batala. The dirty water is being purified by the villagers using Thapar Technology and it is being used for irrigation. In difficult times, this water is also used for other needs of the villagers. Apart from this, compost is being prepared from the waste in the village itself.
Sarpanch of village Peroshah Harjinder Kaur has expressed happiness on receiving the National award. She said that in order to make the villages neat and clean, other villages should also come forward to establish such projects with the help of the Punjab Government.
Principal Secretary of Water Supply and Sanitation Department D.K. Tiwari and Head of the Department Muhammad Ishfaq said that with Peroshah village getting this honor at the National level, other villages of Punjab will also be encouraged for proper management of dirty water and garbage.
