PU organises National Seminar on the theme “Open and Distance Learning in the Context of NEP 2020 : Challenges and Opportunities in Higher Education”

The University school of Open learning(USOL), Panjab University, Chandigarh organised a one day National Seminar on the theme “Open and Distance Learning in the Context of NEP 2020 : Challenges and Opportunities in Higher Education” in USOL Auditorium on 3rd of  March, 2023.

The Guest of Honour , Prof. R.K. Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Agarsen University, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh spoke on the revolutionary changes introduced in the National Education Policy 2020, leading to  the well being and facilitation of the students. In his key note address, Prof. Ramesh Sharma, Director, Human Resource Development Centre,Ambedkar, University  New Delhi advised for mindful use of and reliance upon technology and electronic gadgets. Otherwise this may hamper the creativity and imaginative faculties of the users. In his Presidential address, Prof. Arbind Jha IGNOU, New Delhi, highlighted on what ails the Indian Universities and higher Educational Institutions and why the same do not figure in the list of top ranking world Universities across the globe. Prof. Neeru, Chairperson USOL welcomed to the dignitaries and the participants and apprised the audience regarding the significance of the Seminar.

The event also included a panel discussion in which Resource Persons from G.N.D. University, Amritsar and Centre University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharmshala participated. Former Chairperson of USOL, Prof. Madhurima Verma chaired the session.  In the Technical Sessions. 26 Research Papers were presented. Prof. Harsh Gandhar, Prof. Supreet Kaur, Prof. Swaranjit Kaur and Prof. Ram Mehar chaired the Technical Sessions. The Valedictory Address was delivered by Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
