Chandigarh, June 7
Amid tight security outside the residence of Sidhu Moosewala’s family, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met the late singer’s family members.
Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa district on May 29.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the family residence of the Moosewala to express his condolences over the singer’s killing.
Rahul Gandhi reached Chandigarh airport this morning and reached Moosewala’s native village Moosa. Security was increased outside the residence due to Congress leader’s visit.
Rahul Gandhi was abroad when the killing took place.
Several other Congress leaders including Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, former deputy Chief Minister OP Soni and others accompanied Rahul Gandhi.
Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Mansa district in May. He had joined the Congress in December last year and contested from the Mansa seat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly Elections.
Parents of Sidhu Moosewala had also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also expressed grief with the family and said that Moosewala was a Multi talented artist who was blessed with mesmerising voice and creativity. He said that his untimely and tragic death of Moosewala has given a major blow to the music industry in general and millions of his fans in particular.
Bhagwant Mann assured the bereaved family that the state government was with them in this hour of crisis and no stone was being left unturned to arrest the killers of Moosewala at the earliest.
