The 49th Annual Conference of Indian Immunology Society

The 49th Annual Conference of Indian Immunology Society (Immunocon ’22) being held at PGIMER, Chandigarh from 23rd-26th Nov 2022 organized by the Departments of Translational & Regenerative Medicine and Immunopathology was packed with rigorous scientific programme on its 2nd day today.


The programme started with a plenary lecture by Prof. Joshy Jacob from Emory University, USA who discussed in detail the mutations in antibody maturation process. Scientists from all over the world discussed tailored immunity, immune metabolism and immune based therapies in the following sessions. Dr. Meera Sharma who holds expertise in the field of immunodiagnostics and intellectual property rights(IPR) protection gave a lecture about patenting process in the field of medicine. Dr. Nandi from IISc, Banglore explained the Raman scattering analysis of plasma as a novel point of care method for distinguishing COVID 19 patients from normal flu patients. There were educating talks about chikungunya infection, leismaniasis and other viral diseases.


Prof. G P Talwar who is considered as father of immunology in India and is presently Director Research at the Talwar Research Foundation graced the occasion and opened the trade show in the conference where various industry exhibitors dealing with biomedical products showcased their products of utilty in disease monitoring and immunological research. Prof. Talwar also presented Senior Scientist Oration award to Prof. Javed Agrewala on the behalf of Indian Immunology Society. The sessions of the day ended with a wonderful talk by Prof. Talwar emphasizing development of unique vaccine endowed with multiple benefits and highlighted the importance of mission oriented research.
