35th Quality Circle Competition Chandigarh Preliminary
18 Quality Circle teams participated in the Competition

UDAY Quality Circle Team from Subros Limited was adjudged the winner at the 35th Quality Circle Competition Chandigarh Preliminary
The first Runner up Trophy was won by SANGHARSH Quality Circle team from Maruti Suzuki India Limited and INNOVATION Quality Circle team from Havells India Ltd was adjudged the second runner-up team.
Two Quality Circle teams, namely JAGRITI from Vardhman Textiles Ltd and JOSH from Gabriel India Ltd were given the Consolation prizes. The best Debut was awarded to UDAAN from Tiwana Oil Mills Pvt Ltd.
Over 100 workmen and 18 Quality Circle teamsparticipated in the Competition. The assessment of the presentation was made on a weighted scale covering different aspects of the Quality Circle activity. The evaluation was based on factors like problem selection, analysis, solution, presentation, etc.
The Panel of judges included Mr H S Anand, Partner, Plexus International; Mr Naresh Chawla, Lead Consultant, Kaizen Institute and Mr J P S Sibia, Management Consultant.
Mr Amandeep Singh Bhatti, Director,Technical Education, Chandigarh Administration and Mr Rajiv Kaila, Chairman, CII Chandigarh UT & Director Kaila Engineering Ltd gave away the trophies to the winners and spoke about the need to make maximum utilization of the knowledge created around Quality Circles and use it for sustainable development.
Delivering the opening Remarks, Mr Rajiv Kaila, Chairman, CII Chandigarh UT & Director Kaila Engineering Ltd, said, “Quality circles, foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation and bring about a sea change in the attitudes of people. An empowered and motivated team increases the effectiveness and efficiency of any enterprise.
Mr Amandeep Singh Bhatti, Director,Technical Education, Chandigarh Administration mentioned that the Quality Circle Competition is a celebration of creativity and recognition of talent and teamwork. It symbolizes the innovations and capabilities of workers and is a representation of a positive employee-employer relationship.
