Prof Raj Kumar, Vice-chancellor, Panjab University, held an interactive session with scientists and social scientists of Panjab University. He apprised the scientists that a corpus of Rupees 25 crore has been earmarked for the promotion of research ecosystem at the Panjab University. He also informed that the grant for personal enhancement for the faculty members of Panjab University has been increased from twenty thousand per year to one lakh rupees.
During the interactive session, the scientists gave many valuable suggestions for the growth of research in the university and also for a better mechanism to facilitate scientists so that they can focus on their research in a more focused way.
The Vice-Chancellor motivated the scientists and encouraged them to come forth with interdisciplinary projects which can benefit society at large. He also emphasized on motivating the students for start ups and also increasing the outreach programs in their respective domains. The Vice Chancellor also assured that the provision for grant for the repair and maintenance of the equipment will be created in near future. He motivated the scientists to increase the number of patents. Vice chancellor assured the scientists that a faster and better mechanism will be developed by the Director, Research and Development cell of Panjab University. Prof. Yojna Rawat, Director Research and Development cell of Panjab University assured the scientists present in that meeting that R&D cell will take care of all the issues related to the research projects and will facilitate the scientists in the best possible manner.
