20 days dance workshop at homecare unit for specially-abled people in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, July 11

The 20 days dance workshop is being conducted at Samarth Jiyo, a homecare unit for specially-abled people located at Sector 15A, Chandigarh. The aim of the workshop is to bring happiness and healing for the inmates.

Under the direction and supervision of Prof. Preeti Arun, President of the society, Ms. Pooja Ghai is managing the administrative work and looks after the day to day chores with assistance from Warden and fourteen attendants. Samarth Jiyo is home for 32 inmates presently. Most of them need attendants for daily tasks. Ms. Ghai says, “Even if someone comes to meet them, it is a treat for them”.

Ms. Shivangi Bansal, Social Substance and State Secretary, Haryana State Dance Sports Unit is a renowned dance trainer and a teacher at school. Her joy working with inmates has no bounds. She has adapted herself as a mother or sister for them. Inmates are so happy dancing the way she has taught them. She said “To me happiness is healing and the way inmates are responding is way beyond satisfaction and thus healing and rejuvenating.”

Ms. Pooja Ghai could see eagerness and feel the vibes of positivity for the inmates.  She thanked Social Substance, a global group for making it happen at Samarth Jiyo
