Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Gian Chand Gupta announces to constitute a visionary committee

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh Gian Chand Gupta today announced that a visionary committee would be constituted to work towards bringing a new identity to Panchkula on international map besides effectively implementing seven concerns of making Panchkula  free from drug, slum, plastic, stray cattle, stray dog, encroachment and pollution.

          Sh Gupta announced this while presiding over the meeting of the Panchkula Development Advisory Committee organized in Sector-5 here today.

Deputy Commissioner, Sh Mahavir Kaushik, Mayor Municipal Corporation Sh Kulbhushan Goyal, DCP Sh Surendra Pal Singh, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Sh Dharamvir Singh, Nodal Officers of seven concerns and members of Panchkula Development Advisory Committee were also present in the meeting.

          In the meeting while the nodal officers of each concern  gave detailed information about the work done so far, members of Panchkula Development Advisory Committee gave their valuable suggestions to work effectively towards addressing the seven concerns. 

Sh Gupta said that Panchkula has immense potential for development and after the formation of the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA), decks have been cleared to make Panchkula education, medical, tourism and sports hub. He said that a medical college would be set up on about 31 acres of land in Sector-32 Panchkula. Efforts are being made to ensure that the students start getting MBBS education in this college from next year, he added. 

He said that Panchkula is soon going to get its Logo, which would give a new identity to Panchkula. For this, the Municipal Corporation will organize competitions among the best designers as well as school children and the winners will be awarded with cash prizes.

Sh Gupta said that with a view to realize his vision of clean and green Panchkula, a one-day cleanliness drive would be organized with the participation of NGOs, RWAs, Market Association and government officers. He said that a Green Task Force would also be constituted which would work toward planting maximum samplings  and also ensure their upkeep.

The Speaker said that with a view to make Panchkula drugs free, it is necessary to identify and break the supply chain. He said patients who are undergoing treatment in de-addiction centers in district Panchkula can provide vital information in this regard. He also sought the list of all de-addiction centers, patients undergoing treatment and those who were cured, at the earliest. ACP Sh Rajkumar informed that the seven concerns started by Vidhan Sabha Speaker have yielded positive results.

He informed that in 2021, about 759 grams of opium were seized by the police whereas in 2022, more than 9 kg of opium has been recovered so far. Similarly, in 2021, more than 192 grams of heroin was seized while in 2022, more than 320 grams of heroin has been seized so far.
