Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh Gian Chand Gupta today paid tributes to martyr Major Sandeep Sagar on his 23rd death anniversary by laying a wreath on his statue near Sector-8/17 roundabout.
Along with Sh Gian Chand Gupta, the martyr’s mother Smt. Raksha Sagar, sister Smt. Anjali Madiya, Secretary, Zila Sainik Board Col. Naresh and other family members and relatives also paid floral tributes to Martyr Major Sandeep Sagar.
Sh Gupta said that he salutes Smt Raksha Sagar who gave birth to such a brave son. Martyr Sandeep Sagar sacrificed his life at a young age while fighting the enemy forces at the Naushera sub-sector in Rajouri near the Line of Control (LoC) during Operation Vijay in 1999. The people of the State and Panchkula are proud of him, he said adding that such brave sons, who laid down their life for the country, do not die but become immortal.
He said that from the very beginning, Sandeep Sagar had a strong desire to join the Indian Army and serve the motherland. Sh Gupta said that he also salutes all those brave soldiers, who are safeguarding the borders of the country even in minus 40 degrees temperature and scorching heat so that we can sleep peacefully . He said that revolutionaries and freedom fighters like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Madan Lal Dhingra, Kartar Singh Sarabha sacrificed their life at a young age so that we can live in Independent India.
On this occasion, Sh Gupta also announced to constitute a five-member committee for maintenance of war memorial of martyr Major Sandeep Sagar and said the funds for this purpose would be provided by Municipal Corporation.
