In the coming time, Haryana will fast emerge as a strong team of Malkhamb and coaches and players associated with Malkhamb of Haryana are going to win many new medals so that Malkhamb is promoted in Haryana and Haryana remains the leader in this game. Apart from this, efforts will also be made to include Malkhamb in Olympics, said General Secretary, Malkhamb Federation of India, Sh. Dharamvir Singh.
At present, Malkhamb is being organized for the first time in the Khelo India Youth Games being held in Panchkula and Maharashtra is currently leading the game with the highest number of points, while Madhya Pradesh is at number two and Chhattisgarh is at third place. Although this sport was started in the last two to three years, yet Haryana has brought its players to the national level in such a short time and these players are performing well at the Youth Games.
General Secretary, Malkhamb Federation of India, Sh. Dharamvir Singh, who hails from Sonipat, Haryana, said that at present this sport is being played in 35 countries and there is a centre in Mumbai where people from all over the world come and learn this sport.
According to Sh. Dharamvir Singh, he wants that one centre should be opened in every district of Haryana for Malkhamb and for this he will soon meet the Director of Sports Department of Haryana and talk to him so that the game of Malkhamb is encouraged in Haryana. Apart from which, this game should be listed so that the players of repute in this sport can also get the same facilities as other sports in Haryana. He said that efforts will also be made to include this game in the sports policy.
The General Secretary said that the Federation of India wants that by organizing seminars in every district of the state, children should be given training regarding Malkhamb so that the players can be prepared for this sport. Apart from this, Malkhamb should also be included in the school games of the state so that the players of Malkhamb can be prepared from childhood.
