The delegation told Mr. Jain that as per the Punjab Government Rules, physically handicapped employees are entitled to 2 years extension after the normal age of retirement for the Punjab Government Employees. This was being followed by the Chandigarh Administration also for a very long time.

Chandigarh June 4, 2022.

A delegation of Physically Handicapped Association, Punjab and Chandigarh met Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Ex MP and Additional Solicitor General of India at his residence today morning and submitted him a memorandum, demanding grant of 2 years extension in service to the physically handicapped employees of UT Chandigarh. The delegation was led by Sh. Harmesh Kurari, General Secretary of the Association.

The delegation told Mr. Jain that as per the Punjab Government Rules, physically handicapped employees are entitled to 2 years extension after the normal age of retirement for the Punjab Government Employees. This was being followed by the Chandigarh Administration also for a very long time. However, with the introduction of Central Pay Scales for the employees of Union Territory of Chandigarh, a question mark has been put on the special concession of extension of 2 years service to the physically handicapped employees of UT.

The delegation submitted that physically handicapped employees are a class apart and needs special care and protection from the society. Therefore even after the implementation of the Central Pay Scales for the employees of UT Chandigarh, the special concession of extension of 2 years for the retirement should not be taken away and rather be enhanced suitably, so that the physically handicapped employees can also live honourably in the society.

Sh. Jain assured them that he will take up their demand/issue with the Chandigarh Administration and the Government of India and will forward their memorandum to Sh. Amit Shah the Union Home Minister of India shortly. He assured them that he will try his best to get their genuine demand accepted within reasonable time.
