Purohit launches 54 new bus routes from the existing fleet of CTU

CTU starts bus services to Salasar Dham and Khatu Shyam

Chandigarh, June 13

Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Administrator, Chandigarh, today launched the 54 new bus routes from the existing fleet of CTU. The launch to place in the presence of Smt. Sarabjit Kaur, Mayor, Sh. Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator and Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Secretary Transport, Sh. Praveer Ranjan, DGP, Sh. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Finance Secretary at Punjab Raj Bhawan.

​CTU in the recent days has tremendously improved upon detention of bus fleet by bringing the fleet utilization to above 90 per cent.

CTU has been able to start 4 new bus route trips while receiving 6 long routes, 9 sub urban route trips and 11 tricity routes which were lying closed from past three to twelve years.

 54 new buses have been put in operation on equal number of routes. The new bus routes include AC bus services to Khatushyamji (start at 7:00 AM) and Salasar Dham (start at 7:40 AM). Both the buses will start from ISBT 17 Chandigarh.

With this launch, CTU will increase its daily operational kilometres by eighteen thousand kms, earning an estimated extra revenue receipt of Rs. 6 lakh per day in addition to giving safe, comfortable, efficient and economical transport services to the general public of Chandigarh and tricity.

Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner,  Sh. Kuldeep Chahal, SSP, Smt Hargunjit Kaur, Special Secretary Finance, Sh. Pradhuman Singh, Director Transport were also present on this occasion.
