Students of the New Public School stage the play “1857” at Tagore Theatre

Students of the New Public School, Sector 18-B, Chandigarh staged the play “1857” at Tagore Theatre today. The play was designed and directed by the famous theatre exponents of the region – Neha and Siddharth Kaushal of The Idea Box fame.

100 students from classes VI to XII participated in this outstanding presentation which with elaborate choreography of physical theatre was a visual treat as well as an overwhelming experience. The whole cast gave a stellar performance and left the audience spellbound with their consummate performance. Ingenious play of lights, elaborate costumes and appropriate set design were able to capture the essence and brought the era alive.

Major General Anupinder Bevli VSM, the Chief Guest presided over the Prize

Distribution Ceremony which was held after staging of the play. The most

coveted honour, the Principal’s Trophy was conferred on Sehajpreet Singh of class XII Science. The Best Sportsperson award went to Udit Ravish of class XII Arts.

Major General Anupinder Singh Bevli, in his address urged students to be proud of the unique legacy of their school and also stressed on the importance of instilling values in children. Lauding the efforts put in by the students, he complimented  R.D. Singh, Director NPS and the whole team.
