Chandigarh, June 21
To mark the International Yoga Day celebrations, Chandigarh Police celebrated the Yoga Day in collaboration with SPYM, Narcotics Control Bureau and PGI-Chandigarh at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16, Chandigarh with children from under-privileged localities of Chandigarh.
Sh. Parveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Sh. Gyaneshwar Singh IPS, Deputy Director General NCB, Chandigarh along with Sh. Amanjit Singh, Zonal Director, Dr. Akshay Anand, Deptt. of Yoga, PGI and his team, Sh. Manish Kumar, team leader SPYM and all senior officers of Chandigarh Police participated in this Yoga event.
Dr. Akshay Anand from Deptt. of Yoga, PGI delivered lecture about the significance of Yoga in our physical as well as mental health. He stated that Yoga can improve our lives and we can manage the stress more effectively. NCB Director apprised children about the drug menace and aware them about role of Yoga to combat drug abuse. He raised slogan to the children ‘Say Yes to Life No to Drug’.
During the address, DGP/Chandigarh emphasized that Yoga not only improve our lives but also provide us ability to fight against diseases. If we practice yoga every day we can keep our self away from the illness.
Chandigarh Police celebrated Yoga day with the message “YOG BHAGAYE ROG” and drug de-addiction. The duration of this event was 35 minutes in which different “Yoga Asana” were performed by team from PGI as per the protocol by Ministry of Ayush. More than 700 children from colonies of Daddumajra, Hallomajra, Maloya and Dhanas, students of SPYM along with their staff, Police Officers, NCB staff, staff from Social welfare departments participated in this Yoga event.
