Commissioner planted saplings of flowering shrubs at Sector 18 park Chandigarh

Chandigarh, August 7:-

Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today planted saplings of flowering trees and shrubs in a part at sector 18, Chandigarh.

Sh. Anup Gupta, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Mr. Sanjay kumar Sachdeva, Additional District & sessions Judge (Retd.) presently Chairman permanent lok adalat (public utility services) U.T. chandigarh , Sh Arvind jain and other dignitaries from Jain sabha were also planted plants during this program.

Total 201 saplings of trees and flowering shrubs were planted like Neeli gulmohr, molsari, amla , chakrassia, silver oak, guava , kaner, rukmanjni etc . Jain Sabha also donated tree guards for the protection of these newly planted trees.

MCC provided toilet block at inner market sector 8

Chandigarh, August 7:-

Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, area councilor ward No.2 inaugurated public toilet near Vaishno Dhaba, inner Market, Sector 8, Chandigarh here today in the presence of members of Market Welfare Association.

The toilet has been renovated at cost of Rs.18 lakh having many features like PVC door, fresh brick face, children friendly urinals, differently abled & gender friendly toilet, large mirror, full ventilation etc. The old corridor has also been reconstructed along with the toilet.

Banwari Lal Purohit formally inaugurated the second edition of the Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament at Cricket Stadium Sector 16 Chandigarh today on Friday 26th July 2024. As many as 3600 young boys and girls aged between 14 to 18 years are representing 300 teams in this 17 days long tournament. The tournament is being organized by UT Cricket Association in collaboration with the Chandigarh Police. The Snana Yatra takes place on the full-moon day of Jyeshtha. When Ganapati Bhatta arrived at the Snana Mandapa, he did not find an elephant head on Lord Jagannath. He was terribly disappointed since he could not behold his favourite God. Lord Jagannath could gauge the feelings of the devotee. Disguised as a Brahman, the Lord met Ganpati Bhatta as he was leaving Puri in a state of dejection. The Lord persuaded him to visit the Snana Mandap in the evening.When Ganpati Bhatta reached there he was ecstatic to find Lord Jagannath with the head of an elephant looking exactly like Lord Ganesha. MC Chandigarh gears up for upcoming monsoon season Commissioner reviews comprehensive flood preparedness plan with engineers Chandigarh, June 18:- In a bid to ensure the safety and well-being of residents during the upcoming monsoon season, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has geared up to implement comprehensive flood preparedness plan. Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, reviewed detailed flood preparedness plan here today with MCC’s senior officials and engineers of Public Health wing, B & R wing, Department of Health (MOH), Horticulture wing, Fire & Rescue Services and the Electrical Department to coordinate proactive measures aimed at mitigating potential risks and ensuring public safety. She emphasized that these departmental collaborative efforts underscore MCC’s commitment to prioritizing public safety during the monsoon season. The meeting discussed detailed plans on pre-monsoon cleaning and maintenance, the formation of Special Response Teams, 24/7 control rooms, and dedicated flood control phone numbers for further implementation. The Commissioner further elaborated that to ensure proper drainage during the monsoon, MCC is undertaking the task of cleaning approximately 30,000 road gullies and storm water drains citywide, with a target completion date of June 20, 2024.
