Chandigarh, July 25
The Chandigarh Police released an advisory which stated that as per the latest cyber crime trend, it has been found that in the present scenario , the scammers/ fraudsters has adopted a trend to upload their own mobile numbers on the website/ google search of various existing essential services i.e Hotels, Grocery Shops, Wine Shops, Courier services etc.
In this way they are being contacted by the public and they manage to cheat them. It is advised, that do not search the contact number on google or any social media platform, try to obtain the number from reliable sources, said the Police.
Police Station – Cyber Crime of Chandigarh Police claimed to having achieved a major success in arrest of two accused from Mathura, U.P. For this SP Cyber Crime formed a special team of Ps- Cyber Crime under the supervision of DSP/Cyber Crime headed by SHO, PS- Cyber Crime, Chandigarh to apprehend the criminals involved in online cheating.
The brief of the case are that PS- Cyber Crime had received a complaint of a person, in which he searched the contact number of hotel Shivalik View on Google for room booking . He found a mobile number and he contacted on that number. After that complainant was asked to share OTP received on his mobile for booking confirmation, when he shared the OTP an amount of Rs. 28400 deducted from his Credit Card..
During the course of investigation accused person of age 24 and 23 years old have been arrested from Mathura, U.P. on 22.07.22 and ATM card related to alleged bank account have been recovered from their possession, according to the police.
