Programme to focus on women and health, children and gender sensitivity
Chandigarh, September 5:
Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr.Baljit Kaur today gave a call for mass participation of women in the ‘Poshan Maah’ being observed in the state during September. The month long programme will focus on women and their health, children and gender sensitisation.
The Cabinet Minister stated that the programme focuses on themes–Antenatal Care, Optimal Breastfeeding (Early & Exclusive), Complementary Feeding, Anaemia, Growth Monitoring, Girls-education, diet, right age of Marriage, Hygiene & Sanitation and Food Fortification. She further said that this program has already started from September 1, 2022 with Women and their health acivities. Throughout the month, various other activities like promotion of regional food, yoga sessions and traditional food for women and children in the tribes will be organized in coordination with the line departments”, she added.
Giving more Information in this regard Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, Dr.Baljit Kaur said that for the multi-ministerial convergence mission ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’, the department has identified four basic themes for four weeks. During the first week, women and their health, children and education activities would be organized in second week. She mentioned that gender sensitive water conservation and management activities is the theme for the third week. Likewise, the drive for traditional food for women and children in the tribes is the main objective of the fourth week.
The Cabinet Minister said that in the state of Punjab Poshan Month is being observed with great enthusiasm by the officials of the department. Employees appointed for Poshan campaign at block level, CDPOs, supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers are also joining in.
