ANIMAL HUSBANDRY MINISTER VISITS VILLAGES OF KHEMKARAN CONSTITUENCY ON THIRD DAY OF HIS PUNJAB VISIT
Chandigarh, August 7:
To protect livestock of the state from the contagious disease Lumpy Skin, the Punjab government has received 66,666 doses of Goat Pox vaccine, which will be administered free of cost to healthy livestock to keep the spread of the disease under check.
This was disclosed by Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Sunday, while interacting with the media persons at villages of khemkaran constituency on third consecutive day of his visit to Punjab.
Taking stock of the situation at village Manakpura, Gill Dairy Farm, Madhi Bohad Wali, Village Mather and Gill Dairy Farm, Village Bhandal and Sandhu Dairy Farm Baharwal, the cabinet minister said that this vaccine, which was specially ordered from Hyderabad, has already been sent to all the districts of the state and the doctors have started administering the vaccine to the healthy cattle, which is being administered free of cost to protect healthy animals from disease.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led government was taking all necessary steps to prevent the spread of the disease. The department officials are constantly in touch with the authorities to order more vaccine so as to ensure no shortage of equipments and vaccine.
He said that the government has released an amount of Rs.76 lakh to all the districts so far and veterinary officers from the headquarter have also been deputed in the districts to help the field staff.
This disease is spreading especially in cattle and many districts of the state have been affected so far, said the Cabinet Minister, urging livestock farmers that if an animal dies, the carcass should not be thrown in open, but it should be buried to stop the spread of the disease and farmers should not buy cattle from other states for the time being to prevent the spread of the disease.

Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, reviewed detailed flood preparedness plan here today with MCC’s senior officials and engineers of Public Health wing, B & R wing, Department of Health (MOH), Horticulture wing, Fire & Rescue Services and the Electrical Department to coordinate proactive measures aimed at mitigating potential risks and ensuring public safety. She emphasized that these departmental collaborative efforts underscore MCC’s commitment to prioritizing public safety during the monsoon season.
