Panjab University is hosting students from Nottingham Trent University

Panjab University is hosting students from Nottingham Trent University, who are visiting the campus and the city for short-term mobility under the Turing Scheme from August 7-14, 2022. Under the stewardship of Prof. Deepti Gupta, Dean International Students, a host of academic sessions, excursions and workshops are being organized, showcasing the rich culture and diversity of India and Panjab.

The day began with a Cultural Immersion session celebrating Raksha Bandhan, hosted by Prof. Renu Thakur, Professor, AIHC and Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson, UIFT& VD. Under the auspices of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a short writing competition on “India through my eyes” had been announced earlier, in which the students were encouraged to share their perspective on India and its 75 years of independence. Students discussed their viewpoint with Prof. Gaurav Verma, Coordinator CRIKC and were awarded mementos and gifts by Prof. Anju Suri, Dean, College Development Council, PU.

This was followed by an academic lecture on Virasat-e-Khalsa by Prof. Sukhmani Bal Riar and a visit to Virasat-e-Khalsa, under the guidance of Prof. Renu Thakur and Prof. Sukhmani. In the evening, the students were later familiarised with various cultural rituals like Mehandi, Churiyan, Rangoli making, Parandaa, Jutti & Dastar tying, under the supervision of Prof. Renu Thakur and Dr. Anu H. Gupta.
