PEC Kickstarts “Envisioning PEC @2025”

Shri Dharam Pal, Advisor to the Administrator, visited Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) today  to identify the forthcoming goals of PEC and to come up with a strategic plan on a short-term and a long-term basis to achieve these goals.
 
The Programme started with an interactive presentation by Prof. Baldev Setia, Director of PEC, through which he apprised the members of the shortcomings, strengths and future goals of Punjab Engineering College. Beginning with a brief introduction to PEC and its vision, the session continued to address the shortcomings and future vision of the institute. He mentioned that the institute has a shortage of faculty and realising that faculty is the single most important factor, PEC has already started to work towards it and had received 1973 applications for recently advertised 58 vacant faculty positions in various departments. He also expressed his concerns regarding the low enrolment of PhD scholars and MTech students which he assured that the institute will work towards.
 
Summarising the presentation and envisioning a bright future for the institute by 2025, the Director assured that no stones will remain unturned to bring back the glory of PEC. As a step towards this, he presented certain reforms, steps and initiatives that are already being taken by PEC. It includes organising national and international conferences, and workshops regularly. Promoting research by providing financial incentives to the faculty members and also building a Central research facility for the students and faculty members to conduct more research and publish quality papers. He also put forward some goals to work upon, including enhancement of research publications (number and quality), new academic programmes in niche areas, maintaining high academic standards, achieving 100% placement, improving industry-academia integration, modernisation of labs and goal to attain the faculty-student ratio of 1:12. Strengthening of alumni linkages and expansion of infrastructure are some other goals the institute is focused to work upon.
 
The Session continued with the Shri Dharam Pal, IAS and Advisor to the Administrator making significant suggestions to the members present. He suggested a more active participation of faculty of the Institute and proactive role of the Board of Governors in evaluating the performance using key performance parameters.  A constant review of the performance of the faculty of the Institute was also suggested.  He recommended the formation of a separate committee to see the key performance areas of the institute in specific reference to the NIRF and other accreditation parameters.  The Chandigarh Administration offered all possible support to make PEC as an Institution of National Importance.  
 
Shri Rajinder Gupta, Chairman BoG stated that the focus should be on the bright future of PEC and also assured a proactive role of the Board of Governors of PEC.  
 
After the presentation session, all the dignitaries visited the Centre of Excellence (Siemens) and the Semiconductor Research Centre, ECE Department to examine the advanced research and design-oriented equipment.

  • भू-तापीय तकनीक से टापरी में स्थापित होगा 8 करोड़ रुपये का सीए प्लांट: मुख्यमंत्री
    आइसलैंड स्थित कंपनी जियोट्रॉपी आइसलैंड नवीन भू-तापीय (जियोथर्मल) प्रौद्योगिकी का उपयोग करके पायलट आधार पर किन्नौर जिले के टापरी में एक नियंत्रित वातावरण (सीए) स्टोर स्थापित करेगी, जिससे स्थानीय सेब उत्पादकों को लाभ होगा। आज यहां मुख्यमंत्री ठाकुर सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू की उपस्थिति में इस संबंध में राज्य सरकार और कंपनी के बीच एक समझौता ज्ञापन हस्ताक्षरित किया गया।एचपीएमसी के प्रबंध निदेशक सुदेश कुमार मोख्टा ने राज्य सरकार की ओर से इस पर हस्ताक्षर किए, जबकि जियोट्रॉपी आइसलैंड के अध्यक्ष थॉमस ओटोहैन्सन ने कंपनी का प्रतिनिधित्व किया।मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि 8 करोड़ रुपये की अनुमानित लागत के इस सीए स्टोर की भंडारण क्षमता एक हजार टन होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार इस परियोजना को साकार करने के लिए कंपनी को हरसंभव सहायता प्रदान करेगी। उन्होंने कहा कि भू-तापीय ऊर्जा एक नवीकरणीय स्रोत है जो ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन को कम करता है। यह पर्यावरण को संरक्षित करने के राज्य सरकार के लक्ष्य के अनुरूप है तथा भू-तापीय प्रौद्योगिकी को अपनाना कार्बन फुटप्रिंट को कम करने में भी उपयोगी है। उन्होंने उम्मीद जताई कि प्रदेश का पहला भू-तापीय प्रौद्योगिकी आधारित सीए स्टोर एक वर्ष की अवधि के भीतर पूरा हो जाएगा।मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि आने वाले समय में सतलुज घाटी क्षेत्र …

    प्रदेश सरकार जनसमस्याओं का समयबद्ध समाधान करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध: मुख्यमंत्री इंतकाल अदालतों में किया गया 74.22 प्रतिशत लंबित मामलों का निपटारा प्रदेश में इंतकाल के लम्बित मामलों की समस्या का समाधान करने के लिए वर्तमान प्रदेश सरकार ने पहली बार अनूठी पहल करते हुए 30 व 31 अक्तूबर,2023 को विशेष इंतकाल अदालतों का आयोजन किया। व्यवस्था परिवर्तन की दिशा में उठाया गया यह कदम प्रदेश के लोगों के लिए वरदान सिद्ध हुआ है। इन इंतकाल अदलतों में प्रदेशभर में इंतकाल के लंबित 41907 मामलों में से 31105 का निपटारा कर दिया गया। दो दिनों के भीतर ही 74.22 प्रतिशत लंबित मामलों का निपटारा कर दिया गया,जो सरकार की कुशल कार्यप्रणाली को इंगित करता है।बिलासपुर जिला में इन दो दिनों के दौरान सबसे अधिक 90.78 प्रतिशत मामलों का निपटारा किया गया। यहां लंबित 1943 मामलों में से 1764 में इंतकाल दर्ज किये गए। किन्नौर जिला में 90.75 प्रतिशत मामलों का निपटारा हुआ तथा यहां कुल लंबित 400 में से 363 मामलों में इंतकाल दर्ज किए गए जबकि ऊना जिलामें 89.12 प्रतिशत मामलों में इंतकाल दर्ज हुए। यहां 3670 लंबित मामलों में से 3271 इंतकाल सत्यापित किए गए।मुख्यमंत्री ठाकुर सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू का कहना है कि गुडगवर्नेस के लिए गुड गवर्मेंट का …

    Chandigarh, October 26: Adopting an approach of zero pendency in service delivery in the state, Punjab has been able to bring the service pendency at Sewa Kendras at the lowest level in past five years. Revealing this here today, Punjab Governance Reforms and Grievances Minister Mr Aman Arora said that the pendency has just touched 0.10%, which means 99.90% of applications are processed within prescribed timeline. He was chairing a meeting of all Deputy Commissioners via video conference to review citizen service delivery provided through Sewa Kendras. The Cabinet Minister also reviewed the launch a pilot project of door-step delivery of citizen services in the state. Mr Aman Arora also asked all the DCs to personally monitor each and every line department at the district level to ensure that all the applications are being processed within timelines.
